Sean Penn to the Rescue! & New Orleans Was a Cesspool Before it Became a Cesspool

Fresh off his trip apologizing for Iranian terrorists, Sean Penn has leapt into action to help Hurricane Katrina victims! According to Penn:
"We were pulling drowning people out of the water..."
So says Penn. But, according to this photo, things didn't go that well...
With the boat loaded with members of Penn's entourage, including a personal photographer, one bystander taunted the actor: "How are you going to get any people in that thing?"
How, indeed?

The article in which Penn claims to have saved people and accuses President Bush of "criminal negligence" also says this:
"At one point, there were a load of girls on the roof of the hotel saying 'Can you help us?' and the policemen said 'Show us what you've got' and made signs for them to lift their T-shirts. When the girls refused, they said 'Fine' and motored off down the road in their boat."
If true, this actual criminal negligence only adds to the evidence that the governments of New Orelans and Louisiana were corrupt to the core before the hurricane. FYI, New Orleans had a crime rate 1000% the national average!

We've gotten reports of police abandonment (would the FDNY have walked out on 9-11?) and police looting and police taking their fucking paychecks (three months-worth!) and cutting out from New Orelans.

Junkyard Blog is all over the growing evidence of corruption in New Orelans/La. and of the buses in N.O. (two sets now, school & municipal) that could have saved 20,000+ people and were meant to be THE PRIMARY MEANS OF EMERGENCY EVACUATION FOR PEOPLE W/O MOTOR TRANSPORT!

Little Green Footballs has more on the failure of La. Governor Blanco and N.O. Mayor Nagin to accept Federal attempts to run the city's emergency procedures two days before the storm, and on the growing split between La. officials (should gotten those stories straight before meeting the Boss!) over the fact that Blanco balked, demanding 24 hours, when presented with options for relief efforts by President Bush.

I am just beside myself with rage. At the MSM (STOP ASKING WHY HELICOPTERS CAN'T LAND ON ROOFS!), at Democrat/Bolshevik attempts to disaster-pimp (did the Republicans harp on the OKC bombing? Or the FIRST WTC bombing for that matter?), at celebrity grandstanding, at governmental shell games and blame shifting, at the race-warring.

I have a sinking feeling that this could be a breaking point in, or for, this country.
